Nadia McGourthy advises clients on simple and complex estate and tax planning as well as business planning matters, including preparing wills and trusts, forming business entities, structuring commercial and residential real estate transactions, probate matters, and buying and selling businesses. Attorney McGourthy is also committed to and experienced in drafting, securing approval of, and enforcing historic preservation restrictions for architecturally significant commercial and residential properties. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Preservation Worcester, Inc. for several years, chairing its Urban Design Committee, and she was a member of the Regional Advisory Council of Preservation Massachusetts. She also handles guardianships and conservatorships in the Worcester Probate Court. After obtaining her Juris Doctor, Attorney McGourthy studied estate and gift taxation, taxation of trusts and fiduciaries, federal income tax, corporate taxation, and state and local taxation at Boston University School of Law’s Graduate Tax Program.
Attorney McGourthy is an active member of the Worcester community who provides pro bono services to various non-profits, including the Volunteer Lawyers Service, the Worcester Cultural Coalition, Preservation Worcester and Massachusetts Advocates for Children. She is a corporator of the Greater Worcester Community Foundation and a member of the boards of directors of the United Way of Central Massachusetts and Preservation Worcester. She was appointed to the Greater Worcester Community Foundation’s Distribution Committee by the First Justice of the Worcester Probate and Family Court and she was named one of Worcester Business Journal’s 2003 “40 under Forty” top young professionals. Attorney McGourthy received the Volunteer Lawyers Service Award for Outstanding Commitment to Family Law and the Junior League of Worcester Volunteer of the Year Award. She is a member of the Worcester County Bar Association and she is fluent in Italian.
